Classic movie Sister Act is coming back for a third outing, starring Whoopi Goldberg, and the legend has spoken about who she would like to be in it with her.

The much-loved original 1992 Sister Act movie saw Goldberg star as lounge singer Deloris Van Cartier, who saw her boyfriend kill someone while living in Reno, Nevada, and consequently entered the witness protection program, whereby she had to pretend to be a nun named Sister Mary Clarence.

While in hiding, she turned the church’s choir around and brought life back to the community.

The film was a smash hit, and led to a sequel, Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit. The follow-up saw Delores once again become Mary Clarence in order to teach music. The plot saw her attempt to save the school from closing down.

Speaking yesterday (13th October) on Comedy Central’s Hell of A Week with host Charlamagne Tha God, Goldberg said the script for the new film will be delivered by the end of this month, and spoke about who she’d love to star alongside.

As well as mentioning rapper Nicki Minaj, she also said: “I’m gonna ask Keke [Palmer, star of Nope] to come. You know, I want everybody to come in. I want Lizzo to come.”

Talking more about her dream cast, she said: “I want as many people who want to have some fun, because I really, desperately need to have some fun.”

Oscar-winning Goldberg will serve as a producer of the new sequel.

Sister Act 3 is set to premiere on Disney+, although there is no indication of when that might be at this stage.
