Netflix shares unseen photos of a young Pamela Anderson ahead of series

Nineties icon Pamela Anderson is coming to Netflix next year with her own story following the unapproved Hulu series Pam & Tommy.

The streaming giant has shared rare pictures of the Playboy idol's docuseries that is set to tell her story 'on her terms' and see her 'in a whole new way'.

The synopsis for Pamela, a Love Story, produced by her son Brandon Thomas Lee, reads: "An intimate and humanising portrait of one of the world's most famous blonde bombshells.

"Pamela, a love story follows the trajectory of Pamela Anderson's life and career from small-town girl to international sex symbol, actress, activist, and doting mother."

Activist Anderson teased fans with the announcement in March and wrote: "My life. A thousand imperfections. A million misperceptions.

"Wicked, wild and lost. Nothing to live up to. I can only surprise you — Not a victim, but a survivor and alive to tell the real story."

She told People about her upcoming memoir, Love, Pamela, set to land on shelves the same day as the documentary: "The book is a raw, unpolished attempt — a very personal true account of my life, from my first memory to my last."

Netflix continued: "The film, which has been in the making for several years, will feature the pop culture icon setting the record straight as she looks back on her professional path and her personal journey."

On the stolen sex tape, Anderson explained: “Nobody knew the truth—even I don’t know 100% of what happened, but I think what is most important is to share my human feelings and how much it hurt and how it undeniably defined me moving forward—in my career and my relationships.

“Writing my book was therapy,” Anderson said. “The documentary I haven’t seen, and I have no intention of seeing.

"I gave full access to my archives and diaries, and I hope that through full transparency, it makes sense to somebody.” 

In the wake of the unapproved Hulu series which neither Tommy or Pamela had anything to do with, friend of the activist Courtney Love said last year that the Hulu show was causing Anderson 'complex trauma'.

A source also told Entertainment Tonight that it was 'very painful for Pamela Anderson and for anyone that loves her'.

Pamela, a Love Story will be released on Netflix on January 31.
