Billie Lourd has shared a heartwarming tribute to her late mum, actress Carrie Fisher, six years after her passing.

The iconic Star Wars actress passed away aged 60 in 2016, following an incredible forty-year career on the big screen.

Taking to Instagram, daughter Billie uploaded a sweet vintage snap of the mother-daughter duo together and wrote about her feelings of grief combining with joy following the birth of her second child.

In the caption, Billie shared: “It has been 6 years since my Momby died (feels like 2 but also like 705 at the same time?). And unlike most other years since she’s died, this year, these past two weeks have been some of the most joyful of my life.

“Giving birth to my daughter and watching my son meet her have been two of the most magical moments I have ever experienced. But with the magic of life tends to come the reality of grief. My mom is not here to meet either of them and isn’t here to experience any of the magic. Sometimes the magical moments can also be the hardest.”

She continued: “That’s the thing about grief. I wish my Momby were here, but she isn’t. So all I can do is hold onto the magic harder, hug my kids a little tighter. Tell them a story about her. Share her favorite things with them. Tell them how much she would have loved them.”

Billie then shared her love for anyone else experiencing grief, and urged: “I see you. You are not alone. Don’t ignore either. Life can be magical and griefy at the same time.”

The Ticket to Paradise star gave birth to her daughter earlier this month, and is already mum to two-year-old Kingston Fisher.

Billie was able to star alongside her famous mother in 2015’s Star Wars: The Force Awakens, where Carrie returned to her career-defining role as General Leia Organa.

As well as starring as Leia, Carrie also penned a number of screenplays, and won the BAFTA for Postcards from the Edge, starring Meryl Streep.

Following her tragic death, the actress was made a Disney Legend, and landed a posthumous Grammy Award for Best Spoken Word Album for her memoir, The Princess Diarist.
