Jonathan Majors is pinching himself over his latest role in star-studded boxing flick Creed III.

The Marvel star plays Damian ‘Dame’ Anderson in the sporting sequel, out today (3rd March), who comes face-to-face with childhood friend and now-boxing champion Adonis ‘Donnie’ Creed (Michael B Jordan) after years behind bars.

When Dame is released from prison, he becomes determined to prove himself in the ring, and challenges Donnie to put his future on the line.

Appearing in the Creed movies, part of the Rocky franchise starring Sylvester Stallone, is a dream come true for Jonathan, who admitted he never thought he’d get the chance.

Speaking exclusively to virginradio.co.uk at the European premiere of Creed III in February, Jonathan shared how it felt to be an official part of the Creed franchise, and how the first movies inspired his own life.

He explained: "It's a balancing act. I tell you that much, it feels great. It's something I always looked up to as a boy and in my adulthood, so I was inspired by it.

“I’ve got a playlist actually, that says ‘Creed One’ and I made it the same day the movie came out and I will work out to it. I never thought that so many years later, I'd be standing next to the Ceed guy [Jordan] and really participating in a Creed film, so it's wild.”

Creed III marks the first film in the Rocky Franchise without Stallone as iconic boxing figure, Rocky Balboa, but he remains on the project as a producer.

Donnie star Jordan pulled double-duty as lead actor and director, and while at the same red carpet event, Michael shared how he’s hoping to take the boxing franchise forward.

The Wire actor, who recently earned his Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, told virginradio.co.uk and other press: “I got plans, but I just don't know exactly what they are yet. I'm still trying to wrap my brain around Creed III right now, but the Creed universe, I definitely want to expand.

“I think in this day and age, there's so many different platforms for you to play around with IP, from animation to television to comic books and graphic novels, things that I love, video games, you know, so we'll see what the future holds.”

Creed III is out in cinemas now.
