Cadbury’s Heroes and Roses tubs have decreased in size, and fans are complaining on social media.

Ahead of Christmas, supermarket shelves are beginning to fill up again with classic gifts such as the chocolate selection tub, but customers have noticed there has been a change in the case of two popular tubs.

Heroes and Roses chocolate tubs which used to be 600g have decreased in size to 550g, but have kept the same price.

Keen eyed chocolate lovers took to social media to point out the change, with one person posting on the ‘Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK’ Facebook group: “Smaller size alert 600g last Christmas, this year 550g”, the Mirror reports.

Other group members soon took to the comments of this post to complain about the change, “It’s like everything nowadays - more money less for it,” one said.

“Just don’t buy them! Only way this will stop,” another suggested angrily.

Acknowledging the change, a spokesperson for the company which owns Cadbury, Mondelez, said: “We are facing the same challenges that so many other food companies have already reported when it comes to significantly increased input costs – whether it's food commodities, energy prices or packaging materials – and rising inflation."

As a result, they explained: “our products are much more expensive to make.”

Though the spokesperson added that the company “understand that consumers are faced with rising costs too,” and that they as a company therefore “look to absorb costs wherever we can,” they continued by admitting that “in this difficult environment, we've had to make the decision to reduce the size of our Heroes and Roses tubs to maintain the great taste and quality our fans enjoy.”
