“It’s a very exciting time,” he shared. “My other son (Jesse) just got married so we’re welcoming two daughters-in-law into our family. To think that they’re carrying on my father’s name, my grandfather’s and my great-grandfather’s… wow!”

On the subject of grandchildren, the Bon Jovi vocalist joked: “My grandkids will be more English than Italian or my other heritage! How crazy is that?”

He continued: “Suddenly your kids are married and they’re telling you about the prospect of grandbabies… woah! There’s no chapter in my book that went this far.”

The rockstar was interviewed by The Sun ahead of the release of his band’s sixteenth studio album, Forever, which he described as representing “the return of joy” to their songwriting after 2016's defiant This House Is Not For Sale and the reflection of their most recent album, 2020.

“It’s about coming through the surgery, seeing light at the end of the tunnel, looking at the 40th anniversary and feeling great about life with my wife and family,” Bon Jovi explained.

The popular singer recently opened up about all of those things in detail while reflecting on his band’s amazing history in the Disney+ docuseries Thank You and Goodnight: The Bon Jovi Story.

Speaking with virginradio.co.uk at the UK premiere of the documentary show, the singer opened up about the emotional journey he and his band mates and friends embarked on while watching the documentary being put together.

“As a whole, it was emotional,” Jon shared. “When we saw a rough cut some six, seven months ago, we were together, and it was emotional because so much has been accomplished in these 40 years, not only the peaks, but the valleys.

“There's been wins and there have been losses along the way. And yet, it takes a long time to call it a career. It's not a speed bump, it's not five or 10 or even 20 years. It's 40 years.”

Forever by Bon Jovi will be released on Friday, 7th June. Thank You and Goodnight: The Bon Jovi Story is available to stream on Disney+ now.
