If you’re a loyal McDonald’s customer, then you are going to be lovin’ the news that the fast food chain has just unveiled a new loyalty scheme, and there is free food up for grabs.
MyMcDonald’s Rewards will allow customers to build up points every time they order, and then exchange their accumulated points for free food. There are 15 food and drink items available, depending on how many points you have.
Alternatively, points can go towards a charity donation to BBC Children in Need.
But how does it work?
Well, you will be able to earn 100 points for every £1 you spend at the restaurant chain, and when you get to 1,500 points, you’ll have the first five free options available.
For 1,500 points, you can choose between getting a portion of Small Fries, a Mini McFlurry, a Regular McCafé, a Hash Brown, or a Side Salad for free, or you can donate £1.50 to charity.
If you make it up to 2,500 points, you can select either a Double Cheeseburger, a Veggie Deluxe, a Bacon Mayo Chicken, a Cheesy Bacon Flatbread, Medium Fries, or a £2.50 donation to charity.
And if you reach 4,000 points, you can score Six Chicken McNuggets, a Big Mac, a McChicken Sandwich, a Double Sausage and Egg McMuffin, a Premium Salad or a £4.00 donation.
If this loyalty scheme floats your boat then you can sign yourself up by downloading the MyMcDonald’s app. Every time you subsequently make an order and pay through the MyMcDonald’s app, your points will automatically be banked. Alternatively, you can get a one-time code, which is available in the Code section of the app.
However, hold your horses before you rush down to your nearest McDonald’s, because the reward scheme is only being rolled out across 10 restaurants in the North West of England at the moment. From today, MyMcDonald's is available in St Helens (Church Street), Aintree, Formby, Kirkby (County Road/Hall Lane), Liverpool (Kensington), Liverpool (Switch Island), Runcorn, Skelmersdale, St Helens (Linkway) and Widnes.
The plan is for McDonald’s to expand to another 65 restaurants later in January, although at this stage it is not known which they will be. McDonald’s then hopes to roll out the scheme to every restaurant in the UK later this year.
