Have you ever felt the heartbreak of getting ready to make a delicious breakfast or lunch with your freshly bought avocados only to discover they are too hard and unripened to eat?

Honestly, it can ruin your day.

However, thanks to this hack shared by a health and wellness guru, you can turn those nasty avocados ripe in just 24 hours.

Instagrammer Caroline Groth has truly blown our minds after sharing her “life-changing” hack to her hoards of followers on social media.

In a video uploaded to her Instagram, she reveals the way to quickly ripen an avocado is to place it in a paper bag with a kiwi fruit.

The science behind it is that the kiwi fruit will release ‘ethylene gas’, which is a plant hormone that certain fruits release to induce ripening.

Caroline wrote in the caption: “Guys, Green Skin + Shepard Avocado season means I legit need a spreadsheet to keep track of when I’ll have avocados to eat because they take foreeeeeeeever to ripen. But no more… insert the best 101 life hack ever.”

She added: “The paper bag traps the gas so the process works faster meaning you’ll have ripe avocados in 24 hours.”

This is particularly helpful at this time of year because, as Caroline alludes to in her post, it is Shepard avocado season- and those types of avocados are known for taking longer to ripen.

Her followers took to the comments to share their amazement at the hack.

One user wrote: “But how? Mind blown 🤯”.

Another said: “I need this in my life 🙌”.

A third commented: “This is life-changing!!! Thank you 😘💙✨”.

Others pointed out that this method also works with other fruit and shared their own avocado hacks.

One person said: “I do this with banana and avocado, ripe then both 👏”.

Another wrote: “I have a hack for your hack 😅😅 only gently press the top of the avocado to see if it’s ripe, not the sides. Pushing on the sides will bruise it 😘”.
