Netflix viewers have revealed the hack they use to avoid spoilers after some complained about one of the streaming platform’s features.
When scrolling through the endless catalogue of films and tv shows on the site, you will probably notice that short previews or trailers for the title will play.
However, this feature has come up against some criticism from users who have complained the clips sometimes give away major plot points they did not want to discover before watching.
For example, Ozark fans recently accused Netflix of spoiling parts of the show’s fourth and final season after this auto-play feature included a significant plot point.
In a Reddit thread posted on Sunday (29 May), one person wrote: “Netflix really needs to stop showing spoilers in the preview and image’s when scrolling.”
Other fans also added to the thread with their own complaints about the feature, and one helpful user posed a hack to disable the feature and save the spoilers.

They replied: “You can deactivate trailers and clips in your account settings. But only through a PC/laptop.
This is, in fact, true, and users can deactivate the “autoplay previews” feature using the sit through their PC or laptop.
When signing into the account, go to the “manage profiles” section as the app opens. After clicking through, there should be an option to disable “autoplay previews”.
After doing this, the app might take a while to update, but it should eventually disable all auto-plays across your devices, including your TV.
In other Netflix news, users will now be able to give “two-thumbs up” when rating movies and TV shows.
The feature will allow people to rate what they have just watched with three options- a thumbs down (not for me), a single thumbs up (I like this) and a double thumbs up (I loved this!).
This comes after the streaming giant announced a price increase for new and existing members in the UK.
