Depeche Mode have shared a new video for one of the tracks from their new album, Memento Mori.

The black and white clip for Wagging Tongue was directed by the Sacred Egg, with creative direction from the band’s longtime collaborator, Anton Corbijn.

Dave Gahan and Martin Gore both appear in the video, which focuses on a young couple who take part in a strange, cultish ritual.

The band’s 15th studio album was released earlier this year, and is their first in six years, following 2017’s Spirit. Memento Mori is also their first since keyboardist and founding member, Andy 'Fletch' Fletcher, died last May at the age of 60.

Have a look at the new video, and a listen to the single, here:

Fans were quick to praise the new video, with one writing: “Only Depeche Mode can make dark song sound so uplifting.  It's the lyrics,  it's the melody,  it's the brilliant minds behind the creations,  for the past 40 years. No band can match their achievements ❤️❣️🙏.”

Another added: “Melody perfect, voices perfect, emotions perfect, video ambiance perfect, DM is like a good red wine, getting older getting better.... Depeche Mode is one of the best things that could happened to music!”

The group shared an image of their gig in Leipzig last week, which showed a visual tribute to Fletch.

Depeche Mode are currently on a world tour, which will include UK and Ireland dates. They will play Malahide Castle in Dublin on 14th June, and will then play at Twickenham Stadium in London on June 17th.

In February, Gahan and Gore performed another of their new songs, Ghosts Again, as well as their classic, Personal Jesus, on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert ahead of the release of their new album.

You can hear plenty of classic Depeche Mode on Virgin Radio 80s Plus.
