The music might have already kicked off at this year’s Glastonbury Festival, but the line-up continues to grow.

Irish singer-songwriter Hozier has announced that he will perform on the Woodsies stage (which used to be called the John Peel Stage) tonight at 7.30pm.

There had been plenty of rumours flying around about the musician (full name Andrew John Hozier-Byrne) possibly making an appearance, and he has now confirmed his set in a tweet, saying: “Thrilled to announce I’ll be playing @glastonbury again in a not-so-secret set this evening (Friday)! See you at 7.30pm, WoodSIES stage 🖤”

Fans were quick to comment on the news. One wrote: “Hooray! The rumours turned out to be true!”

Another added: “So happy for you, Andrew, as it’s one of your favourite festivals.”

The Irish star’s Glasto appearance comes ahead of the release of his third studio album, Unreal Unearth, which will land on 18th August. Also on the horizon are a host of UK and European tour dates.

The artist has also today released a new single, taken from his upcoming album. The song is called today Unknown/Nth.

Of the new track, Hozier said in a statement: “The title comes from the expression of an unknown but large number, i.e. ‘Nth.’ The song reflects on having your heart broken by someone you trusted. You think you learned, and it happens again.

He added: “It also recalls ‘Ninth’ or the 9th circle of treachery. The song throws away the old premise of angelhood. None of us are angels. We are all going to break someone else’s heart or hurt another person. Musically, there was a minimalist approach. In that cold empty place, something else happened.”
