Sam Ryder spoke to Chris Evans about how his new single, You’re Christmas To Me, is currently neck and neck with Wham! at the top of the charts in the race to be Christmas number one.

Joining the Chris Evans Breakfast Show with cinch on the phone in the midst of a trip around the country to promote the single, Sam said: “We're sat here eating Gregg's pasty at the crack of dawn in a car park in a transit van, just getting ready to respond to the encouragement and good vibes that have been sent our way from just people all over that are enjoying this song. It's such an amazing feeling.”

George Michael and Andrew Ridgeley’s Whamageddon classic, Last Christmas, and Sam’s new offering are sitting at numbers one and two in the charts. Sam said: “Wham!’s trophy cabinet is full to the brim!”

The singer-songwriter has hit the road to spread the word about You’re Christmas To Me. Explaining that he was in Manchester yesterday (17th December), “doing live performances all day,” he said: “We're bleary eyed and starting all over again, heading to Nottingham.”

If you fancy seeing Sam while you are out and about, he said: “We're heading to Nottingham and Leicester,” and as the week goes on, will be “in Oxford, and Reading and then Portsmouth, Bournemouth, Bristol, Swansea. Oh, gosh, I'm getting tired just looking at it. But it's going to be amazing. The energy will be bought and we'll all have an absolute blast.”

He continued; “Stay tuned on my Instagram. We're keeping everyone updated on the schedule of where we're heading.”

Earlier this month, Sam performed the single live on  the Chris Evans Breakfast Show with cinch.
