There are plenty of artists ready to kick off their 2024 in style with brand new music.

Now the Christmas decorations have been put away and the festivities have come to an end for another year, we're in desperate need for something to look forward to, and luckily, the likes of Lewis Capaldi, Tom Odell and Green Day are here to bring us some joy this January.

Here are the albums to watch out for in January 2024:

Lewis Capaldi - Broken By Desire To Be Heavenly Sent (Extended Edition) - out now

After taking some time out of the spotlight, Lewis Capaldi made his big return to social media in December to confirm he was releasing an extended edition of his sophomore album, Broken By Desire To Be Heavenly Sent.

His second album was first released in 2023, and included the singles Forget Me and Wish You The Best. It ended up becoming the fastest-selling album of 2023 in the UK, where it also topped the charts.

Taking to Instagram for the first time since announcing his break from touring, Lewis explained: “After some back-and-forth about whether or not it was the right thing to do, I’ve decided it would be a shame for these extra five songs, which are so incredibly special to me, to sit on my hard drive, never to see the light of day.”

The Vaccinеs - Pick-Up Full Of Pink Carnations (12th January)

The Vaccines are kicking off the new year with their sixth album, Pick-Up Full Of Pink Carnations, which they described as “hopeful and euphoric.”

It marks the indie band’s first record since 2022’s EP Planet of the Youth, and is also their comeback following the departure of guitarist Freddie Cowan.

During a chat with NME, frontman Justin Hayward-Young revealed that the new release will have themes of nostalgia and loss, telling the publication: “It’s quite explicitly in the lyrics, but then it’s in the music as well. It’s in the melody and the sound. This record feels nostalgic.

“Something I’ve said about our music so many times is there’s euphoria and melancholia in equal measure. I don’t think this is a sad or depressing record – I actually think it’s quite hopeful and euphoric – but I do think it has these melancholic undertones.”

Green Day - Saviors (19th January)

After celebrating 30 years of Dookie and 20 years of American Idiot, Green Day will be bringing out some fresh music with Saviors.

Their 14th album was recorded in London and Los Angeles and features the singles The American Dream is Killing Me and Dilemma.

Speaking in a statement about the release, Green Day, made up of Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt and Tre Cool, said: “We’ve never been more excited to unleash new music than with Saviors, a record that’s meant to be rocked live, together. So let’s thrash. We’ve got some amazing friends who are coming along for the ride!”

James Arthur - Bitter Sweet Love (26th January)

James Arthur will be hoping for more chart glory with his fifth album, Bitter Sweet Love.

Taking to Instagram recently, the Impossible singer revealed he wanted his next record to sound “indie, rock’n’roll and Americana”, and has already released singles Blindside and Sleepwalking.

He told fans in September: “I love feeling the palpable energy in the room when playing live, so this album was written with that in mind.”

Tom Odell - Black Friday (26th January)

Tom Odell is preparing for his sixth studio album, called Black Friday.

The Another Love hitmaker has already released the title track as well as four other tracks from the highly-anticipated record, which is a follow-up to 2022’s Best Day of My Life

Speaking about the themes of Black Friday the single, Tom shared: "It’s a song that explores the idea of loneliness and the desire to be looked at, a longing to not be on your own.

There’s a lot of shame in it, but there’s a degree of self-awareness and humour as well”.

Not only can fans enjoy a new album, but Tom will also be hitting the road for his biggest UK and European tour next year, including two sold-out shows at London’s Roundhouse.
