The ginger-haired crooner, Ed Sheeran, is keeping his fans on their toes as he spills the beans on his upcoming musical endeavours.

In an interview tête-à-tête with PEOPLE at the Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation Gala, Ed Sheeran dished out the deets, confirming that his fans might need to be a bit patient for his new tunes.

With a cheeky grin, Sheeran teased, “That I'm working on them and they're new songs.” But hold your Spotify playlists, folks! The hitmaker dropped the bombshell that there won't be any fresh melodies gracing our eardrums this year.

Instead, he's relishing the whirlwind of tour life, opting to marinate his musical concoctions a bit longer.

“I'm enjoying being on tour. I released two records on tour last year and it's quite a lot being on tour and releasing records. So, I've made the new music and I'm just going to sit on it for a bit,” he quipped, leaving fans eagerly anticipating the sonic feast to come.

But fear not! While we wait for Sheeran's melodic masterpieces to hit the airwaves, it seems his pint-sized critics at home are already grooving to his tunes.

The doting dad revealed that his daughters, Lyra Antarctica, 3, and Jupiter, his celestial second baby born in May 2022, are already showing signs of being Sheerios-in-training.

“Yeah, of course, of course. Mostly my new songs because I don't really play my old songs in the house,” Sheeran chuckled when asked if his mini-mes jam out to his tunes.

“I feel it'd be quite weird to just put on my discography, so they mostly know the new songs that I'm working on because I play them quite a lot,” he added, proving that even toddlers have discerning musical tastes.

Reflecting on fatherhood, Sheeran previously spilled the tea on how life has changed since he became a dad.

“Well, I became a dad and I feel like my lifestyle shift has changed. Instead of going to bed at six [a.m.], I'm getting up at four,” he shared on The Late Late Show.

“It just feels like what life was meant to be. It's great,” he beamed, admitting that fatherhood has injected a newfound zest into his life. “I'm healthier than I've ever been. I'm exercising every day … I'm spending so much time at home making the record. Yeah, I feel like a human being. It's good.”

So, while we eagerly await Sheeran's musical magic, let's keep our Spotify playlists on standby and our ears perked for any sweet melodies coming our way!
