Sir Rod Stewart has been forced to cancel his 200th show in Las Vegas after coming down with strep throat.
The celebrated singer was meant to perform his massive landmark show at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace on Wednesday (7th August) but had to pull out last-minute while dealing with the illness.
Stewart took to Instagram to share the news, telling fans he was “desperately sorry” to have to miss the 200th celebration.

He wrote on his Instagram Stories: “Most people can work with strep throat but obviously not me. I’m absolutely gutted. I’ve been looking forward to this concert for so long.
“My deepest regrets for any inconvenience this has caused. Thankfully we’ll now be returning in 2025 and I hope to see you all there.”
The Young Turks hit-maker was meant to close his Caesars Palace show after performing there for the last 13 years, but he’s just announced he’ll be back at the famous venue for The Encore Shows Las Vegas Residency in March and May 2025.
The Las Vegas concerts see the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer perform his major hits, including Da Ya Think I’m Sexy and You Wear It Well.
Sir Rod’s extra concert dates come after he revealed that despite being 79, he’s got no intention of hanging up his mic anytime soon.
He told Hello! Magazine earlier this year: "I don't see any possibility of slowing down anytime soon. And as I get older, I only really want to do things that give me great pleasure."
Wife Penny Lancaster agreed, adding: “He loves what he does so much and will never retire.
“He's a workaholic and constantly on the move. I struggle to keep up with his training schedule. He works out three or four times a week – even on tour."
She continued: "He's not your average 79-year-old man. He can't sit still and is always on the go.
In 2023, Rod did confess on The Chris Evans Breakfast Show that while he’s not retiring any time soon, he has been taking it a little bit easier.
“I’m moving on,” he said at the time. “I’ve made an album with Jools Holland, and it’s a swing album. I’m not retiring, I just want to give the rock ‘n’ roll a rest for a while. Not that I’m tired, physically, of it. It’s just another challenge.”
Regarding how he stays in such good shape, Rod explained: "I work out three times, sometimes four times a week. I don’t always like it, but I have a trainer who makes me train."
"You’ve got to keep yourself fit if you want to stay in this business, and keep your legs strong."
Get well soon Rod!
