They say good things come to those who wait, and for Mariah Carey it's been 26 long, long years.

'All I Want For Christmas Is You'

is undoubtedly one of the all-time great Christmas tunes, but until now it never actually reached the number one spot in the UK.

It was first released in 1994, following her Christmas album, 'At the time, ' peaked at number two. ' by East 17 beat it to the number one spot.

This week marks the 70th week in the UK Top 40 for Mariah's classic tune. It's now a record-breaker too, as no other song has spent more weeks in the Official Chart Top 40 before eventually reaching Number 1 in the UK.

It's also clocked up 10.8 million streams in the past week, so it's also earned the title of "most streams in a week" for any song in 2020 so far.

It's also the UK's 84th best-selling song in history. Since 1994 it has sold 1.24 million copies since 1994 according to Official Charts Company data.

Mariah Carey told the Official Charts Company: "Happy Christmas UK!! We finally made it!!! We are keeping the Christmas spirit alive together despite how dismal the year's been. Love you always! Joy to the world!!!!"
