'Fairytale of New York' has been voted the 'Best Christmas music video'

It's often a fierce debate around the Christmas dinner table - which festive song is the best one ever? A new poll has given us a definitive answer, once and for all, at least when it comes to music videos.

There was a landslide victory for The Pogue's . It's a bone of contention every year about whether certain lyrics should be updated, but it clearly doesn't stop us from loving the song. 

 The poll surveyed 2,000 brits, and 24% chose the winner. 

1. Fairytale of New York – The Pogues ft. Kirsty Macoll: 24.3%
2. Last Christmas – Wham! 13.8%
3. All I Want For Christmas Is You – Mariah Carey 13.1%
4. I Wish It Could Be Christmas Every Day – Wizzard 13%
5. Do They Know It’s Christmas? – Band Aid 10.9%
6. Merry Christmas Everyone – Shaken Stevens
7. Christmas Time (Don’t Let The Bells End) – The Darkness
8. Santa, Tell Me – Ariana Grande
9. Mistletoe – Justin Bieber
10. Pipes of Peace – Paul McCartney

Many of us play Whamageddon each year - seeing how long you can make it without hearing the infamous song, but that hasn't stopped  coming in at #2 on the list.

Mariah Carey finally reached number 1 in the UK in 2020 too, but she didn't quite make it to the top spot here.
