If you still don’t really understand exactly what Non-Fungible Tokens are, then you’re definitely not alone. Kings of Leon, however, reckon you need to rectify that pretty quickly, as they think they’re going to play a bigger and bigger part in the way the world works.

Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs) are a type of cryptocurrency, similar to Bitcoin. The important difference though is that they cannot be exchanged and are essentially one-off digital tokens for virtual or physical assets, such as art, gig tickets and albums. This means that the digital item only belongs to the person that purchased it.

The American rockers used this new technology to release their new album, When You See Yourself, and have earned a very tasty £1.4million from sales of the tokens.

The band visited Cleveland's Rock & Roll Hall of Fame on Thursday (April 29th), before opening the NFL draft with their first live show in over a year. Speaking to Billboard, Nathan Followill from the band said, “I think it’s the way of the future, not only for music but you’re seeing sport cards in the form of NFTs, artists putting their work through NFT.”

He added, “So not just for music, but for art and I think it will definitely have a place.”

So, if you want to stay up to date, you’d better get studying up on your NFTs!
