It’s official! RHCP are back and they’re bringing new music with them!

Just days after teasing fans with a behind-the-scenes look at the band back together with former guitarist John Frusciante, the Red Hot Chili Peppers have just announced their comeback album, called Unlimited Love.

It marks their return to music since the release of their eleventh studio album ‘The Getaway’ back in 2016, and it will be the first album they have made since John’s return to the band in 2019.

Unlimited Love will be released on 1st April, but fans can check out the music video to new single - called Black Summer - now.

In a press release announcing the exciting update, the band said: “We (John, Anthony, Chad and Flea) spent thousands of hours, collectively and individually, honing our craft and showing up for one another, to make the best album we could.

“Our antennae attuned to the divine cosmos, we were just so damn grateful for the opportunity to be in a room together, and, once again, try to get better.

“Days, weeks and months spent listening to each other, composing, jamming freely, and arranging the fruit of those jams with great care and purpose. The sounds, rhythms, vibrations, words and melodies had us enrapt.

“We yearn to shine a light in the world, to uplift, connect, and bring people together. Each of the songs on our new album ‘Unlimited Love’, is a facet of us, reflecting our view of the universe.

“This is our life’s mission. We work, focus, and prepare, so that when the biggest wave comes, we are ready to ride it. The ocean has gifted us a mighty wave and this record is the ride that is the sum of our lives.”

It comes just days after RHCP teased a comeback on their social media channels. One 18-second video contained a neon red sign of their logo and was posted without comment, but fans speculated the guitar riff heard in the background was unmistakably that of John Frusciante.

Frusciante re-joined the band after nearly a decade away. He first appeared on their 1989 album Mother’s Milk and on the infamous second album Blood Sugar Sex Magik in 1991, which propelled the band to fame.

He’s long been heralded as one of the greatest guitarists of his generation and was even worked into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of the Red Hot Chili Peppers in 2012.

Unlimited Love is out on Friday 1st April. Their single Black Summer is out now.
