If you saw last week’s BRIT Awards, you’ll know there were plenty of great live performances, including Ed Sheeran teaming up with Bring Me The Horizon.

The singer-songwriter and the Sheffield metal band came together to open the BRITs with a reworked, seriously rocking version of Ed’s massive 2021 track Bad Habits. The live collaboration started off pretty close to the original version, before getting rockier and rockier as it went on, with heavy guitars and Bring Me The Horizon’s Oliver Sykes taking over the vocals at one point.

A week on from the epic performance, and with Sheeran having already revealed that the two acts are planning to write a new song together, Oli Sykes has shared a FaceTime call that he had with the singer-songwriter, where they talk about their live performance and the prospect of releasing a studio version of their collab.

The video on BMTH’s Twitter page shows Sheeran and Sykes talking, with the former saying: “Man, that show was nuts. Thank you so much for doing it man. I really, really enjoyed it.”

Sykes responded: “I’ve never had so much adrenaline pumping through me.”

When the Sheffield band’s frontman said: “There are so many people asking for, like, a studio version,” Sheeran replied: “We have to get one out.”

Hopefully, we won’t have too long to wait for the studio version to land as, when the massive-selling solo-artist asked: “Do you think we could turn it around fast?” Sykes said: “Yeah!”

Bring Me The Horizon added a pre-save link to their tweet, so it does seem like the song might be arriving soon.

And if you’re worried that the studio release might lack some of the heaviness of the live version, then fear not. At the end of the chat, Sheeran told Sykes: “Make sure it goes proper death growl at the end!”

Formed in Sheffield in 2006, Bring Me The Horizon have released six albums, the latest of which (2019’s Amo) became their first to top the UK charts.

They have been nominated for two Grammy Awards.
