With more and more artists returning to the stage and swapping Zoom recording sessions for being back in the studio, it’s no surprise we're seeing more records from some of our favourite artists coming out soon.
We’ve got some major releases in 2022, and some are only just around the corner. With that in mind, here are some musical highlights to look out for in March.
Stereophonics - Oochya! (4th March)
The Welsh rockers are back with their 12th album, brilliantly titled ‘Oochya!’ for some serious ‘oomph’.
Back when it was first announced in September, frontman Kelly Jones said the record was originally meant to be a ‘Greatest Hits’ to commemorate the band’s 25 years together, but they found so much unreleased music, they decided to make something new for fans.
Currently, singles Do Ya Feel My Love?, Hanging On Your Hinges and Forever, are out now, and speaking about the upcoming record, Kelly said: “The whole album is melodic. You put it on and it’s one of those albums you don’t really want to turn off because it keeps going onto different styles and the songs hold your attention. It shows a lot of styles of the band.”
Bryan Adams - So Happy It Hurts (11th March)
The fifteenth album by Bryan Adams is truly a go-hard-or-go-home effort.
So Happy It Hurts will be available on standard CD, deluxe CD with a lenticular cover and hardbound book, two shades of vinyl and various bundles. There's also a limited edition box set.
One track in particular, called Kick Ass, even features a spoken-word introduction by British TV icon John Cleese. Talk about pulling all the stops out!
In a statement about the upcoming release, Bryan said: “The pandemic and lockdown really brought home the truth that spontaneity can be taken away.
“Suddenly all touring stopped. No one could jump in the car and go. The title song ‘So Happy It Hurts’ is about freedom, autonomy, spontaneity and the thrill of the open road.”
Ella Henderson - Everything I Didn't Say (11th March)
This second record from Ella Henderson is a very long time. After taking a four-year hiatus following her debut success in 2014, she’s been busy in the studio with the likes of Jax Jones and Tom Grennan.
Now, Ella is back with Everything I Didn’t Say, which features her brilliant single Brave.
Announcing the upcoming release back in January, Ella said: “I know it’s been a long time coming but I wanted to take the time to really follow my heart and vision, to create something that fully represented me, who I am today and what I stand for.
"I am so ready to finally share this body of work! It’s all here… the good, the bad, the ugly! This record means absolutely everything to me.”
Placebo - Never Let Me Go - (25th March)
Everyone’s favourite boundary-pushing rockers are back with their first album in almost ten years.
Never Let Me Go is the first album performed as only a duo, with lead singer Brian Molko and Stefan Olsdal as the two remaining members.
The ‘Bitter End’ band’s latest track ‘Surrounded By Spies’ came after frontman Brian found out his neighbours were spying on him.
It’s the follow up to ‘Beautiful James’, which was released in September, and was their first new music in five years.
Sea Girls - Homesick (25th March)
London-based Sea Girls are finally releasing their long-awaited record Homesick. Initially due out in January, their second album is ready for release next month, with lead single Lonely out now.
The indie rockers performed at the Top Of The Tower for The Chris Evans Breakfast Show in October, and in between hits, they explained how the new album was created partly on the band’s home turf of Brixton with long-term producer Larry Hibbitt, and also remotely in California with Grammy-winning producers Jacknife Lee, Jonny Coffer and Cass Lowe.
Frontman Henry Camamile told Gaby Roslin and Ricky Wilson, who were in for Chris at the time: “A lot of it we did in a studio with Larry in Brixton, when we were allowed. In a bubble in rainy Brixton. We’d send things off, and a lot of it was done in LA, [with] Jacknife being over there and stuff, so things would happen at night, phone calls would happen at night.”
He added: “It was great. We made something, it was a bit of a moment, and there was a lot of intensity, and I think it shows in the album."
