Blossoms’ new single is set to arrive tonight (March 24th) and the band’s frontman has given fans an idea of what to expect from the hotly-anticipated tune.
Frontman Tom Ogden took to Twitter to give a description of the vibe of the new track, which is called The Sulking Poet.
The one-minute long clip sees Ogden wearing shades in the sunshine. Of the song, he says: “It sounds a bit like Dire Straits...” The clip then cuts to a short segment from Walk of Life. The singer then continues: “...meets George Michael…” cue Faith. Tom then adds: “...meets Simon & Garfunkel.”
The Blossoms frontman goes on to explain that the title of the song actually comes from a Blossoms fan page, where they referred to him as a sulking poet, “which I thought was funny, so I put it in a tune!”
The clip then gives fans a taste of what the song sounds like, by sharing some studio footage. You can watch it and have a listen here.
At the end of the clip, Ogden says that the song “sounds good in this weather as well.”
The Sulking Poet follows other recent singles Ode To NYC, Care For and Ribbon Around The Bomb, the latter of which is the title track from their upcoming new album.
Ribbon Around the Bomb will be the band’s fourth studio LP, and is set to land on 29th April.
Blossoms will promote their new record with a UK tour over the next few months, during which time they will perform at Glastonbury and Isle of Wight Festival, as well as Y Not and Truck Festivals. They will also play some shows as support to The Killers over the summer.
