Bridesmaids and Pitch Perfect star Rebel Wilson opened up about the “surprising” impact that a trip to the tennis at Wimbledon had on her.

The Aussie joined the Chris Evans Breakfast Show with webuyanycar following the release of her first memoir, Rebel Rising. “I'm definitely not short of stories. My life has been very eventful,” she said.

Speaking about going to The All England Lawn Tennis Club for the Wimbledon Championships, she told Chris: “It was a very hot day, and I was at Wimbledon, watching this female tennis player. And then suddenly I started blushing. I was feeling things. And I was like, ‘What is happening?’ And I’d met this tennis player before. I'm a fan of tennis. I love tennis. And then I started feeling these feelings.”

She continued: “I was on this kind of little experiment, called the year of love, where I was dating lots of people. And I'd been on dates with about 50 different dudes, because as part of the experiment I was if anybody asked me out that year, I'm going to just say yes, I'm gonna give it a chance. What do I have to lose? I'm very, very single. So let me just try it and get more experience dating.

“And then I saw this woman, and then that kind of led to what I would describe as a situationship, what the young people call it, with a professional tennis player. But it didn't lead to a proper relationship, because she had to focus on her tennis. But what it did, is it kind of opened up my heart and my sexuality, I guess you'd say, to being into women.”

The actor, producer and director asked: “Who would have thought?”

She added: “My friend's there; she just wanted to go and drink Pimms and eat the strawberries. And I'm like, ‘No, I have to stay and watch this match and see what happens.’ It’s surprising what life can throw you. It was a real curve ball.”

Speaking about her upbringing, Rebel told Chris: “I came from a very conservative Christian family and I did kind of think maybe I'm not 100 percent straight, but I really was into guys, you know, and so I just I guess went with that and never quite explored the other options.”

Rebel has a young child, Royce, via surrogacy, and is in a relationship with fiancée Ramona Agruma, “My daughter is now a-year-and-a-half old. And she's just the most precious little girl. I was one of those people that had to go through fertility treatments, like five mini surgeries to get my daughter. It's love in a whole new way.

“So I've got Ramona, my fiancée, and little baby Royce. So yeah, it's incredible!”
