Following the exciting news that award-winning comedy Inside No. 9 is on its way back for a new series, a trailer has given fans a peek at what they can expect.

Yesterday (April 7th), one of the show’s creators and stars, Reece Shearsmith, tweeted the news that series seven of the acclaimed dark comedy would be returning soon. He wrote: “‘Inside No.9’ series 7 returns to @BBCTwo on Wednesday 20th April at 22.00pm. If of interest.”

The thousands of retweets and likes that the tweet received suggested that the news was indeed of interest. The comedy writer then followed it up with a later tweet, advising fans that he would be sharing the trailer for the new series, and then, a few hours later, wrote: “Here you go earthlings! The ‘Inside No.9’ trailer for series seven! 10pm, 20th April on @BBCTwo. Enjoy!”

In case you aren’t aware of the show, Inside No. 9 tells a different dark story with a twist every episode, and stars Steve Pemberton and Reece Shearsmith, often alongside celebrity guests.

The new trailer showcases some of the talent that will appear in the upcoming series. We see Mark Gatiss, who was, of course, part of the League of Gentlemen with Pemberton and Shearsmith. Also in the trailer is Jessica Hynes from W1A and Line of Duty’s Daniel Mays.

In the teaser, you can also spot Daisy Haggard from Breeders, and Diane Morgan from David Brent: Life On the Road.

Other stars that will feature in the new series include Jason Isaacs from Harry Potter, Sophie Okonedo from The Escape Artist, Doctor Who’s Annette Badland, Unforgotten’s Siobhan Redmond, and Ron Cook from Hot Fuzz.

Series seven of Inside No 9 will air on April 20th at 10pm on BBC Two and on BBC iPlayer.
