Dwayne Johnson and Samuel L Jackson announced to present at Kids’ Choice Awards 2022

Dwayne Johnson and Samuel L Jackson will be joining a line-up of A-list celebrities presenting the Nickelodeon’s Kids’ Choice Awards this year.

The 35th annual awards, taking place in Santa Monica, California on Saturday (9 April), will be hosted by former iCarly star Miranda Cosgrove and American football player Rob Gronowski with awards presented by a string of stars.

The PA news agency understands that Jackson and Johnsons will be joined on the stage by other stars such as Simon Cowell, comedian Kevin Hart, Terry Crew, Heidi Klum and many more.

The Kids’ Choice Awards are a celebration of fan-favourite stars from music, sports, television, music, social media and more, and a staple of the ceremony is when winners get ‘slimed’ on stage. This year the event is tipped to feature “1,000 epic slimings” with some additional slime-themed stunts.

Grammy-nominee Jack Harlow and Grammy award-winning artist Kid Cudi are set to perform at the ceremony, with more acts to be announced.

There will also be some Metaverse components to the event as part of the entertainment, which are yet to be disclosed.

Speaking about the show, Harlow said: “I grew up on Nickelodeon so to be nominated and perform at the Kids’ Choice Awards is crazy. Here’s to hoping I get slimed.”

Kid Cudi added: “I can’t believe my late 30-something butt gets to party at the Kids’ Choice Awards. I grew up loving Nickelodeon, and it’s been a dream of mine to get slimed.

“Can’t wait to perform my new single from Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Stars in the Sky, along with a special tune dedicated to all the dreamers out there who might be struggling in life.

“This one’s for you.”

The 2022 Kids’ Choice Awards ceremony is directed by Glenn Weiss and executive produced by Michael Dempsey, with Magda Liolis, Andria Parides, Kathryn Rickey and Greg Sills serving as co-executive producers. Nickelodeon Production produces.

The 2022 Kids’ Choice Awards will air at 12.30am UK time on Sunday.
