Ashton Kutcher has opened up about returning to his That ‘70’s Show roots for the upcoming 90s spin-off.

During a chat with Variety, Kutcher revealed he took a walk down memory lane while guest-appearing on That ‘90s Show, which is currently being filmed.

He told the publication: “It was really nostalgic to be back on the set. It's all the same folks that made That '70s Show, so it was pretty bizarre.”

The US actor made his screen debut in the early noughties sitcom as affable Michael Kelso, and even went on to marry his co-star Mila Kunis, who played Jackie Burkhart.

According to the Just Married star, he and Kunis sat down to talk through the decision, and they both felt it would be wrong not to return to where it all began.

He added: “Mila and I were contemplating it. We thought, 'Listen, we're only in the position that we're in because of that show, so let's just go back and do this.' We just went back and had fun for a week. It was so random and fun."

The new Netflix sitcom, which will air 16 years after the original That ‘70’s Show finished, will jump forward in time to 1995 Wisconsin, and bring back Red and Kitty Forman, played by Kurtwood Smith and Debra Jo Rupp.

This new series will centre on Leia (Callie Haverda), the daughter of main characters Eric and Donna, while she stays with grandparents Red and Kitty for the summer in Point Place.

The rest of the That ‘70’s Show cast will also be involved, with Topher Grace and Laura Prepon back as Eric and Donna and Wilmer Valderrama returning as lovable Fez.

Newbies joining the spin-off cast include Ashley Aufderheide, Mace Coronel, Maxwell Acee Donovan and Reyn Doi.

It seems like Netflix is keen on upping the nostalgia ante, as they’ve also just encouraged Kutcher's What Happens in Vegas co-star Cameron Diaz out of retirement for a new movie on the streaming service.

Diaz will be making a comeback to the silver screen alongside Jamie Foxx for a brand comedy film titled Back in Action, directed by Horrible Bosses’ Seth Gordon.

Diaz quietly stepped away from acting eight years ago, and in 2018 she revealed she was “actually retired”.

Netflix have yet to announce release dates for That ‘90’s Show and Back in Action.
