Sons of Anarchy’s Charlie Hunnam is back on a motorcycle in Apple TV+ drama Shantaram

Charlie Hunnam rides again in new Apple TV+ drama Shantaram. 

The Sons of Anarchy star knows a thing or two about being a motorcycle, having played bike club member Jax Teller on the fan-favourite FX drama from 2008 until 2014. 

Now, Charlie is back on the telly scene in new Apple TV+ thriller, Shantaram, which takes place in 1980’s Bombay, now known as Mumbai. 

The streaming service has just dropped the very first look at Charlie as fugitive Lin Ford, who is pictured sitting on a motorcycle while riding through the city’s streets.

Shantaram is based on the 2003 best-selling novel of the same name by author Gregory David Roberts, and it’s not the first time a screen adaptation has been in the works. 

Johnny Depp had previously tried to bring out a film version of the story, but it never came to be. 

Apple TV's Shantaram follows Charlie’s character Lin as he “gets lost in vibrant and chaotic 1980s Bombay."

The Apple synopsis reads: "Alone in an unfamiliar city, Lin struggles to avoid the trouble he's running from in this new place. After falling for an enigmatic and intriguing woman named Karla, Lin must choose between freedom or love and the complications that come with it."

Shantaram also stars the likes of Shubham Saraf, Elektra Kilbey, Fayssal Bazzi and Our Girl star Luke Pasqualino.

Speaking of Apple TV+ dramas, the streaming giant has released the new trailer for psychological thriller series, Surface.

Surface stars Gugu Mbatha-Raw a woman trying to put her life back together in San Francisco.

The character, called Sophie (although her ID says otherwise) has her loved ones helping her when she suffers extreme memory loss following a traumatic head injury.

Shantaram will make its global debut with the first three episodes of its 12-episode first season on Friday 14th October, followed by one new episode weekly every Friday.
