TikTok star and train expert Francis Bourgeois will take his famous friends on a journey exploring the British trainspotting community.

Francis will front a new five-part Channel 4 digital series, called Trainspotting with Francis Bourgeois, and will offer “a unique perspective on the much misunderstood British pastime,” according to the official synopsis.

The wholesome social media star will be joined by some seriously famous faces, including Aisling Bea, Sam Ryder and footballer Jesse Lingard.

Each episode will see the celebs stand on the platform edge with Francis before heading “off the rails” in an “eye-opening adventure” where they “swap life in the fast-lane for life by the rail side.”

In a statement on the new series, Francis said: “Trainspotting with Francis Bourgeois has been an absolute whirlwind. When I started making videos about my hobby I never thought anything like this would happen. It’s been totally surreal.

“Celebrities I’ve seen on TV, stages and sports stadiums, I’ve been able to take into my domain to show them how trains and all things mechanical engineering make me feel, hopefully making them feel something good too!”

He added: “Showcasing my passion in a way I have never been able to before, has been so liberating. Showing the ins and outs that make railway enthusiasm such a rollercoaster. I cannot wait to show you all!”

Channel 4 commissioner Charlie Hyland continued: “We’re absolutely delighted to announce the series and to have taken such incredible guests on their first Trainspotting adventure!

“Watching Francis grow from a hugely popular and charming TikTok star into a brilliantly funny and authentic presenter, has been a joy which I can’t wait for the rest of the country to see.”

Trainspotting with Francis Bourgeois will land on YouTube first, before shorter versions make their way onto Channel 4’s social media accounts.

Francis first started putting up Instagram and TikTok videos about his trainspotting hobby during lockdowns, and soon amassed a huge following online.

He currently has 2.6 million followers on TikTok, with 52.9 million likes, and has since made his social media life his full time job.

Each episode of Trainspotting with Francis Bourgeois will be published on Channel 4's YouTube channel, with shorter versions published on Channel 4's Facebook, Instagram and TikTok from 19th October 2022.
