With Elton John’s touring days coming to an end, the icon is reportedly making plans to take a trip to the Antarctic with his family.

At the end of the record-breaking Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour, the Rocket Man singer is apparently keen to take a holiday, and according to The Mirror, the destination could be a chilly one.

Sir Elton’s husband, David Furnish, told the publication: “Our sons both want to go to the Antarctic and Elton wants to go to the Antarctic as well.”

Chris Evans reacted to the news of Elton’s Antarctic plans on the Chris Evans Breakfast Show with cinch this morning, suggesting that an alternative could be to: “just get an ice bath!”, while Vassos Alexander added that he could alternatively: “just come in [to the studio], because it’s really cold in here, usually!”

There are more destinations planned too, with Furnish explaining to The Mirror that the couple’s elder son, Zach, has “turned into a real fishing aficionado” and “wants to go to Costa Rica, Hawaii and salmon fishing in the north of Scotland.”

Along with all of these potential travel adventures, there are some domestic plans as well, revolving around football and Elton’s long-standing love of Championship side Watford. “Elton wants to take the boys to more Watford games – as long as they win," Furnish said.

The music legend is in the midst of his final run of dates on the road, which include shows in London, Birmingham, Leeds, Manchester, Aberdeen and Glasgow, along with a series of gigs in Europe. He will also play an epic headline set at this year’s Glastonbury Festival.

In related news, it is being reported that Elton and Dolly Parton have teamed up for the first time for a major superstar collaboration.
