Meg Ryan made her name as the star of many hit rom-coms, including When Harry Met Sally and Sleepless In Seattle.

Fans are now rejoicing after it has bee revealed she has a starring role in a new film, called What Happens Later alongside David Duchovny.

It tells the story of what happens when two old flames rekindle with missed connections galore.

Not only is Meg starring in it, but she's also directing the project.

It will be in cinemas in the US on October 13th, and fans are hoping for a similar date here.

The plot focuses around Meg's character Willa and her ex, Bill, played by Duchovny.

A flight delay leads to a chance reunion when they are snowed in overnight at the airport.

The studio says: "Indefinitely delayed, Willa, a magical thinker, and Bill, a catastrophic one, find themselves just as attracted to and annoyed by one another as they did decades earlier."

"But as they unpack the riddle of their mutual past and compare their lives to the dreams they once shared, they begin to wonder if their reunion is mere coincidence, or something more enchanted."

"You left, you let go," Willa reminisces. "When people break up, there's the thing that they tell each other, and then there's the truth, which you never told me."

Will counters, "I was in love with you, and I couldn't turn that on and off like a switch."

"I know," she replies.

"'Are you happy?' Isn't that the one question we should really be asking each other?" Willa asks Bill.

"I have a good life, but I never again met anyone that made me feel the way you do," he says.

Willa later asks, "Have you ever wondered 'what if?'"

Fans have been sharing their excitement at having Meg back on our screens too.

One wrote: "We need to make the new Meg Ryan rom-com a Barbie-level event. Flock to the cinemas in cozy outerwear, brandishing bouquets of daisies and sandwiches that took an hour and a half to order."

Joked another: "The first day of Fall is when Meg Ryan announces a new romantic comedy."

One fan added: "Did not fully grasp the enormity of the void left by not having Meg Ryan in new rom coms until we got this glimpse of Meg Ryan in a new rom com. Snowed in! At an airport! With an old flame!"
