Strictly Come Dancing star Amy Dowden and singer Joss Stone are urging people to support Lorraine Kelly and the Change + Check Choir’s charity single.

The song, called Golden, features the Grammy Award-winning singer as well as the 20-strong choir of women who discovered their breast cancer diagnosis after seeing the campaign on Lorraine’s ITV daytime show.

It’s the fifth year of the brilliant Change + Check campaign, and the new charity tune is also dedicated to Lorraine producer Hannah Hawkins, who recently passed away from secondary breast cancer.

On Friday (15th December) the Change + Check Choir gave a very special live performance of the touching track, in the bid to help it land at the festive top spot.

Before the choir’s moving performance, Strictly star Amy, who was diagnosed with breast cancer last year, sent a special video message, in which she said: “I absolutely admire each and every one of you. Thank you so much for all that you have done and also what an incredible job you have done with Golden.

“Now come on guys, let’s get this to Christmas number one. Everyone - download.”

Welsh dancer Amy revealed she had breast cancer in May and finished chemotherapy in November.

Meanwhile, Grammy Award-winner Joss told Lorraine: “The song is really important. I’ve never been part of a song that’s hit me as deep as that one has. I think it’s because of [my cousin] Jojo.”

She went on: “It means a lot to so many and it really could save people’s lives. So that to me has so much more purpose than a little ditty.”

Joss also invited the choir to sing with her at London’s Royal Albert Hall next year. Speaking from Rome, she added: “It lifts your spirits. It will make you feel better. It has done that for me. I really hope people will get from it what we get from it. That’s what this time of year is about.

“This is all positive so I’m glad to be part of it.”

Lorraine, weekdays from 9am on ITV1 & ITVX.
