The Eurovision star is ready to rock the charts again after wowing the crowds at this year’s festival.
Sam Ryder, the UK’s Eurovision hero who nearly snagged the top spot in 2022, has been keeping busy, and it’s not just with the relentless festival circuit.
Speaking from the heart of CarFest 2024, the long-haired star gave Virgin Radio’s Steve Denyer the lowdown on his summer, his set, and the exciting new music that’s on the horizon.

Fresh off the stage and still buzzing from his performance, Sam couldn’t contain his excitement about the festival vibe at CarFest, when asked.
"Ah, so good, man. [It's an] amazing thing that you guys have built here," he gushed.
He continued: "And I don't say that lightly. All the time, you know, [you hear] like stories of festivals going down and not being able to survive in this climate.
"But I think it's a testament that shows it's [festivals] gotta be more than just, I don't know anything on the surface value. This [CarFest] clearly goes deeper than, than what you'd consider a normal festival to be, is, you know what I'm saying?"
With the festival scene facing tough times, it’s no small feat that CarFest has not only survived but thrived.
Sam’s admiration for the event was clear, and it seems the feeling is mutual. Just moments after Sam left the stage, CarFest’s creator and UK radio legend, Chris Evans, announced that he wants Sam to headline next year.
The invitation caught Sam by surprise, but he didn’t hesitate to accept. "
You just tell us the date and we'll be there!" he replied, proving he’s as ready to rock next year as he was this summer.
And what a summer it’s been for Sam and his band.
"I mean, that we've just been doing festival season. We just done about 30 festivals this year, which is berserk, and this was our penultimate one," Sam explained.
"We have one more to go in a couple of days time. And then that's our summer rolled up. And I'm so thankful that we got to experience this as a team. I’m thankful that my voice has lasted through the whole thing.
"Yeah, just grateful for the experience and festivals like this, like based on what this is built on, remind you of that gratitude when you're going out there to sing."
Sam’s journey from Eurovision nearly-winner to festival favourite hasn’t been without its challenges.
After parting ways with Parlophone Records in 2023, the singer has been forging his own path. But that’s not all – he’s also been hard at work on his second album.
Though he almost forgot to spill the beans during his chat with Steve, Sam quickly made up for it.
"I forgot to say what we're doing, we're making album two, which is a big deal!" he revealed with a laugh.
"So we've been in the studio and doing festivals on the weekends, basically, but just right, making the best record we can. We're out at a major label system. We are in the best place we've been. I can't wait for people to hear this work."
With his second album in the works and another festival season under his belt, Sam Ryder is clearly not slowing down.
As CarFest 2024 drew to a close, fans left buzzing not just from the music, but with the anticipation of what Sam will deliver next.
