This might not be good news for some people, but for me and probably you, this is priceless, as TikTok video creators are banned in Nepal.

Say goodbye to a whole bunch of people described in the most nail-on-the-head fashion as “nuisances” by the Buddhist monks who run Nepal’s oldest and most beautiful places. In fact some of the holiest places in Buddhist culture are in Nepal, where they’ve decided enough is enough. Pilgrims and other respectful travellers will no longer have to suffer the indignity of being in the shot of a pouting narcissist ruining everybody’s meditation vibe with a commentary like a honking goose.

There are now clear ‘No TikTok’ signs, security cameras to keep an eye on things and security staff to politely ask anyone creating videos for any social media platform, to sling their hook and stick their cameraphone where the sun shines elsewhere.

Now, influencers that go to four sacred Buddhist sites in Nepal can only be there if they put their phones away, get in the moment and enjoy the beauty and serenity of these places like a normal person. Amen - or the Buddist equivalent - to that!

A lovely news pupdate from northern California now and another real life Lassie story - I love these - as a clever dog leads rescuers to their injured owner.

Say hello to Saul, a whipsmart classic black and white border collie - those dogs are so clever! - and his owner who fell badly, over seventy feet down a steep slope in Tahoe Forest - as in Lake Tahoe, where people go skiing and snowboarding in the mountains overlooking San Fransisco.

With a broken hip and several broken ribs, the man bravely crawled back up the slope to where he could get a single bar of mobile phone signal and managed to call rescuers. They could find the rough area he was in, but his instructions made things a lot easier - “look for Saul”.

They didn’t have to look very hard because Saul sniffed them out many hundreds of yards away, shot off and made it very clear he wanted them to follow him…he spun round and round in circles then bolted into the forest, woofing so they could pursue him easily.

Rescuers said it was just like a film! They got Saul’s dad safely to hospital and bought Saul a well earned slap up dinner!
