Prince Harry became the guest of honour during a surprise visit to African country Mozambique.
The Duke of Sussex continued his role as president of African Parks during a solo trip from his Californian home, before he heads off for the visit to the UK next month.
In photos shared on social media, Prince Harry posed alongside locals in the coastal town of Vilanculos, which is known for its beaches and wildlife.
According to Metro, a spokesperson for the royal said Prince Harry was “co-hosing a group of US officials, conservationists and philanthropists on a tour of protected wildlife and nature areas.”
Prince Harry’s trip mirrors one he made back in 2010, during which he toured a minefield with the Halo Trust. His mother Diana made a similar minefield mission in Angola in 1997.
After stepping down as a senior working royal in 2020, the Prince retained his African Parks patronage, and has continually worked to help conservation efforts since 2016.
Prince Harry and wife Meghan Markle will be heading back to the UK at the beginning of September, before heading off to Germany for the Invictus Games Dusseldorf 2023 event.
Earlier this year, Prince Harry revealed the one thing he does every day which helps with his mental health.
As a father of two children below the age of four and a loving husband with lots of other work commitments, the Duke says it is vital he takes some time every day to focus on his mental health.
The Prince spoke at a virtual conference for BetterUp about the importance of mental fitness in February, alongside Serena Williams and CEO of the company Alexi Robichaux.
Speaking about his own mental fitness, he revealed he meditates every day.
He explained: “I too experience burn-out. I’m burning the candle at both ends, and that’s like, boom. That’s when you’re forced to look inside yourself.
“I know that I need to meditate every single day. Once you have to show up for other people, the self-care is the first thing to drop away. I’m happy to admit that- as a husband, as a dad.”
