Everyone has their favourite bar in a tub of Celebrations, and, equally, everyone has their least favourite. Spoiler alert, it turns out that a lot of people would choose to get rid of the Bounty. So, having taken heed of public opinion, Mars Wrigley is doing just that.

With new research revealing that over one-third (39 percent) of Brits want to banish the coconut-filled chocolate from tubs, the confectionery brand has teamed up with Tesco to trial a new initiative: No Bounty tubs in the lead up to the festive season!

Yes, if your dream is a Bounty-free tub then you’ll be excited to learn that, for a limited period from 8th November, customers in select stores featuring the Christmas Market pop up will be able to exchange tubs bought in-store that day with a new No Bounty Celebrations tub.

These limited-edition tubs will therefore feature additional Mars, Snickers, Milkyway, Galaxy and, arguably the best of them all - Maltesers.

The trial is rolling out across 40 Tesco Christmas Market locations (see the list at the foot of the article).

This new no-Bounty trial comes after 18% of Brits revealed they would feel irritated if they opened a Celebrations tub to find only Bounty’s were left, and a whopping 58% said this would lead to a family argument!

The poll quizzed 2,000 Brits aged 18 to 65. Of the pollsters, over a fifth (22m percent) said they like Bounty the least out of the Celebrations offerings, with 28 percent saying, somewhat harshly, that coconut does not belong in a chocolate bar at all.

However, if you are a secret Bounty lover, then you’re not alone, as one in five (people admitted that they keep their love of Bounty chocolates to themselves. Also, the survey illustrated that a more mature palette that craves the coconut chocolate the most, with 38 percent of over 55’s choosing it as their favourite.

The No Bounty Celebration tubs follow last year’s Bounty Return Scheme, which encouraged Bounty haters to return their unwanted chocolates and swap them for more-loved Maltesers after the Christmas period.

Emily Owen, Mars Wrigley’s Head of Celebrations Festive Cheer said: “Christmas is the time for giving – but it seems this year, the British public are keen for us to take away…Bounty. Last year, we gave customers the opportunity to return their unwanted Bounty chocolates. Now, off the back of public demand, we’re trialling taking them out of the tub altogether.”

She added: “You don’t know what you’ve got until it’s gone! And to those loyal (and secret) Bounty lovers out there, there’s still a chance they’ll make a return after the trial.”
