A new Haunted Mansion movie is on its way from Disney and, as the trailer proves, it’s got a stellar cast.

Inspired by the classic theme park attraction, the film stars The Mandalorian’s Rosario Dawson as a mother who moves into a new home with her son (Chase Dillon). As the title of the film suggests, it is haunted. Very haunted, in fact.

Everything Everywhere All at Once legend Jamie Lee Curtis is signed up to play Madame Leota, and musician and House of Gucci actor, Jared Leto, also stars.

The synopsis explains that Dawson’s character “enlists a motley crew of so-called spiritual experts to help rid their home of supernatural squatters.”

These include a priest, played by Zoolander’s Owen Wilson, and Danny DeVito’s historian, as well as a paranormal “expert” (LaKeith Stanfield), and a psychic (Tiffany Haddish), who attempt to exorcise the mansion.

Schitt’s Creek's Dan Levy and Stranger Things’ Winona Ryder are also listed as being in the cast, although there are no details regarding in what capacity at this stage.

The film is directed by Justin Simien, who has previously helmed projects such as Dear White People and Bad Hair.

In a statement, the filmmaker said: "As a lifelong fan of the Haunted Mansion attraction, I'm beyond excited to share the teaser trailer for our new film adaptation featuring an incredible cast. Our team has worked tirelessly to create a scary, funny and cinematic otherworldly adventure for both new and die-hard fans to enjoy."

He added: "I can't wait for audiences to experience this big-screen version of the iconic Disney attraction."

In 2003, Disney released a Haunted Mansion movie starring Eddie Murphy, along with Marsha Thomason, Jennifer Tilly, and Terence Stamp.

Haunted Mansion is set to land in UK cinemas on 11th August.
