The Love Actually star nearly stole the show when she busted out her dance moves at Adele’s homecoming concert, which aired on ITV last night.

The concert was filmed at the London Palladium earlier this month, and featured some of the singer’s biggest hits, such as Hello, Someone Like You and Hometown Glory.

However, when she took to the stage to sing her upbeat single Rolling in the Deep, Dame Emma Thompson wasted no time in jumping up to dance, throwing her hands in the air and encouraging the rest of the star-studded audience to join her.

The award-winning film star was spotted cutting some shapes at various other points during the night, and viewers found it both hilarious and iconic.

Many took to Twitter to share their approval of her dance moves. One user wrote: “Everyone knows (& needs!) an Emma Thompson at family functions.”

Another said: “Petition for Emma Thompson to be in the audience for all performances forever more.”

Her dance moves also caught the attention of Adele, who said during the show: “I’ve been seeing you dancing all night!”

Dame Emma Thompson was responsible for another highlight of the night when she was given the opportunity to ask the singer a question about an influential figure in her life.

Adele revealed she used to look up to her English teacher. She said: “I had a teacher at Chestnut Grove who taught me English, Miss McDonald. She was so bloody cool, so engaging. She really made us care, and we knew that she cared about us.”

And low and behold, who emerged from the audience, but Miss McDonald herself, who the singer then had a teary reunion with.

Another highlight of the night was when the microphone was handed to Alan Carr, who belted out his version of Make You Feel My Love as the Hello singer went backstage to reapply her makeup.

The concert came as a celebration of her new album, 30, which was released on Friday and is already set to top the charts.

An Audience With Adele is available on the ITV Hub.
